🚨 VAR set to be used in all remaining FA Cup ties

VAR is set to be used for the remainder of this season’s FA Cup ties.

The Football Association confirmed on Monday that the mechanism will be deployed from this weekend’s quarter finals in addition to the semi-finals and final itself.

Previously, English football’s governing body utilised semi-automated offside technology for fifth round ties held at Premier League stadiums earlier this month.

“Video assistant referees (VAR) will be utilised across all of the remaining fixtures in this season’s Emirates FA Cup,” read an FA statement.

“Match referees will also continue to provide spectators and viewers with improved clarity and understanding of the final decision in relation to any reviewed incidents by delivering in-stadium VAR announcements.

“Semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) will be in place for the three quarter-finals taking place at Premier League stadiums, as well as the semi-finals and final at Wembley Stadium connected by EE.”

There are three all-Premier League ties in the competition’s last eight while Championship outfit Preston host Aston Villa.
