Steelers brass skips Michigan pro day for Aaron Rodgers

On Friday, the University of Michigan held its annual pro day ahead of the 2025 NFL draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers sent defensive coordinator Teryl Austin but top brass GM Omar Khan and head coach Mike Tomlin were noticeably absent. This is because free-agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers was at the Steelers facility and occupying their attention.

The number one player Austin was there to see was massive defensive tackle Kenneth Grant. Grant is a cross between a modern, athletic big man and a throwback nose tackle with all the power and leverage. Last season, Grant paired up with Mason Graham to form the best interior defensive line tandem in college football. But make no mistake, Grant’s production wasn’t simply a product on Graham next to him.

Grant could easily be the Steelers first-round pick and pair up with Keeanu Benton in the middle to fortify the Steelers run defense. Grant had three sacks, two fumble recoveries and five passes defended in 2024. Grant also had 32 tackles and seven tackles for loss.
