What will free agent tight end Hunter Long’s 2025 salary cap hit be with the Jacksonville Jaguars?

What will free agent tight end Hunter Long’s 2025 salary cap hit be with the Jacksonville Jaguars?

The Jaguars signed Long to a two-year deal worth $5 million. He has the ability to earn up to as much as $6.5 million with incentives, according to Aaron Wilson.

Long will have a base salary during the 2025 season of $1.25 million. In total, he received a $750,000 signing bonus that, from a salary cap perspective, will be prorated over the two-year deal–so $375,000 will count towards this year’s cap hit.

Long can also earn an additional $500,000 in total between roster and workout bonuses, which makes for a cap hit this season of $2.125 million, per Spotrac.

In 2026, Long’s base salary increases to $2 million while he maintains the same bonus structure, making his cap hit next season $2.875 million.

Coming from the LA Rams, Long has experience in an offense that will be similar to Liam Coen’s, which should make for a smooth transition.

He’s also primarily been utilized as a blocker, which is a crucial element to playing tight end in Coen’s offense, but GM James Gladstone does like his upside as a pass catcher.
