Former Vol Aaron Combs by the numbers in MLB Spring Breakout

The second group of MLB Spring Breakout games were played Friday in both the Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues as a part of MLB spring training.

Although Friday was the second day for MLB Spring Breakout, it was the first day of games featuring former Vols.

Despite making MLB Spring Breakout rosters for both San Diego and Kansas City, neither Kavares Tears or Drew Beam made an appearance for their respective organizations.

While Beam and Tears did not see the field, another former Vol crucial to Tennessee’s 2024 national championship team did play in pitcher Aaron Combs.

Combs closed for Philadelphia’s prospects against Pittsburgh’s prospects. Despite surrendering one hit and a pair of walks, he struck out two batters to guide the Phillies‘ prospects to a, 5-3, victory.

Combs appeared in 50 games, including two starts, for the Vols from 2023-24. He recorded 105 strikeouts and a 3.24 ERA.
